Mykola Tomenko,
Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Ethnic Affairs Committee
of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China headed by
Zhou Shengtao.
The participants of the meeting called for strengthening inter-parliamentary relations between committees and friendship groups.
M. Tomenko attaches great importance to a new level of cooperation, as relations on the supreme level between Ukraine and People´s Republic of China "have received new impetus of strategic partnership after bilateral meetings of the Presidents and leaders of the Governments." He emphasized that inter-parliamentary group "Ukraine-PRC" includes 73 People´s Deputies.
The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to the representatives of the National People's Congress for assistance in organizing culture days of Ukraine in China in 2010. He hopes that the days of culture of China will be successfully organized in Ukraine.
Mr Zhou Shengtao stressed that connections with Ukraine are successful not only in economic but also in social and political spheres. He hopes that this visit will improve the situation in the said fields.
M. Tomenko stated that work upon the State Budget 2012 and the State Program of Economic and Social Development of Ukraine for 2013-2014 will strengthen Ukrainian-Chinese relations. According to the Deputy Chairman, the state program lays emphasis on the innovation and research projects which are of common interest.
Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, emphasized that "strategic cooperation between committees and friendship groups will facilitate transformation of strategic intentions into practical actions."
